Tips and tricks to cure hiccups at home

The onset of hiccups can be caused by a variety of factors. It could be due to physical or emotional reasons. Hiccups begin when the nerve linking the brain and the diaphragm is irritated.

Among the most common causes are:

• Consuming excessive amounts of food or eating too quickly

• Nervous or ecstatic feelings

• Consumption of carbonated beverages or alcoholic beverages

• Are You Stressed?

• A abrupt temperature change

• Sucking on candies or chewing gum causes air to be swallowed.

 

You can attempt a few home treatments, but they won’t work for everyone. It varies from person to person.

 

• Take three deep breaths and then swallow three times.

• Breathe into a paper bag, but don’t stop until you feel dizzy!

• Quickly drink a glass of water

• Add a spoonful of sugar to your drink

• Pulling on your tongue – Take care not to pull so hard that your tongue comes out, as this would be a mistake.

• Rinse with water.

• Rubbing your neck at the nape of your neck.

• Getting scared- A sudden scare, such as someone unexpectedly appearing in front of you or any of your fears coming true, may help you stop the hiccups.

• Laughing out loud- According to several studies, laughter is the best therapy. Perhaps someone else hiccupping will make you giggle.

• Hug your knees- Put yourself in a position where you must sit in a comfortable manner. Bring your knees up to your sternum and hold them there for two minutes.

• Lean or bend forward to compress your chest, putting pressure on your diaphragm, which will undoubtedly influence your breathing.

• Take a tablespoon of honey and place it on your tongue. Allow it to melt in your mouth for a few moments before swallowing.

• Suck on a lemon—Rinse your mouth with water after sucking on a lemon to protect your teeth from the citric acid.

• Put a drop of vinegar on your tongue- Apply one drop to your tongue and leave it there for 15 minutes.
