Fatty liver disease, although a very serious health issue, but the silver lining is that with proper lifestyle modification and routine check-ups, this disease can be reversed.
Liver is the most vital organ of our body that perform hundreds of tasks related to metabolism, energy storage, waste filtering, digestion of food. It also helps in filtering out to toxic material from our blood.
Liver disease seems to become a life style disease in India and with more cases of liver disorder being now reported on daily basis. While India is already one of the worst affected developing country affected by infection of Hepatitis Virus of all five kinds, the increasing cases of both non-alcoholic and Alcoholic fatty liver diseases have further worsened the situation . Liver problems have become much more common among people of all age groups. In Punjab, as many as two lakhs cases were in last five years for hepatitis C , of which nearly 90 percent have been recovered . – Dr J .P. He further said, “Every 3rd person in Punjab has fatty liver. In majority of ultrasounds we do, even diagnoses for other diseases, fatty liver is commonly found. Fat accumulation in the liver not only causes problem throughout the body, but can also very fatal, if not treated properly and promptly”. In most cases, fatty liver is often caused due to excessive consumption of alcohol because liver is responsible for breaking down most of the toxic components (alcohol) in the body. However, during the process, a lot of harmful substances are generated inside the liver that damages the liver cells. Over the period of time, these damaged cell weaken the immune system of liver and vulnerable to any other damage. Those having Alcoholic liver disease mustunderstand that continued alcoholconsumption can further damage their liver.
Don’t ignore if you have Yellowish and pale skin, bloody and black stools, Severe abdominal pain , Weakness and no able to concentrate.This may be the sign of Liver disease. Fatty liver is a common condition caused by the extra storage of Fat in liver, Most people have no symptoms in Level 1 or 2 of disease and it does not cause serious problem to them .
