‘Health diseases’ that can be caused with excess sugar consumption

March 26,2022(Anuradha Kapoor)

Sugars are already present in many healthful foods, such as fruits  vegetables, and dairy. These dishes have a sweeter flavour due to the sugar. It is critical for people to include these foods in their diets since they give the body with a variety of nutrients that are beneficial to one’s health.

Manufacturers, on the other hand, frequently add sugar to foods like cereals and cakes, as well as many drinks. Artificial sugar added to products causes a variety of health issues.

The main sources of added sugar are sugary drinks, candy, baked products, and sweetened dairy. Even savoury meals, such as breads, tomato sauce, and protein bars, can include sugar, making it all too simple to consume too much of it. To make matters even more complicated, added sugars might be difficult to detect on nutrition labels.

When sugar is ingested in excess, it affects the arteries of the blood, causing the walls of the arteries to become thicker than normal. Consuming more sugar in one’s daily life can lead to cardiac illnesses such as heart attacks and strokes. According to studies, when a person’s blood sugar level rises, they die of a heart attack.

It greatly boosts the calorie content of foods and beverages without adding any nutritional value. As a result, consuming sugar that is devoid of calories would only hurt the body’s organs.

Sugar-rich diets are naturally high in calories. Diabetes risk can be increased as a result of this.

Sugary drinks, such as frooti drink, Maaza, and Coke, are particularly dangerous since they include artificial sugar and flavour, which is harmful to one’s health.

Sugar has the following negative consequences on the human body:

1. As you ingest fat in the form of sugar, your body weight rises.

2. When sugar is taken in excess, the pancreas becomes overworked.

3. When sugar consumption is excessive and the number of sugar blood cells rises, the kidneys may be harmed.

4. Consumption of too much sugar attracts heart disease.

5. A diet high in sugary foods can result in acne-prone skin.
