If u r Living with one kidney.. Here’s what you should eat and avoid!

Drinking a lot of fluids is recommended for patients who only have one kidney because it allows the remaining kidney to keep circulating fluid through the body.

Despite the fact that people with one healthy kidney can resume a normal diet once the drug has worn off. Doctors recommended that they reduce their sodium intake, which is beneficial to the entire body, including the kidneys, thus a doctor may recommend this for a patient with only one kidney.

If your solitary kidney is in good shape, you shouldn’t have any dietary limitations. To avoid future health problems, you must eat a kidney-friendly diet low in sodium and alcohol.

Some suggestions for patients who want to maintain a healthy kidney:

 

1. Limit salt intake – Excess sodium in foods should be avoided, as doctors advise people to consume less salt.

2. Reduce alcohol intake—Because kidney patients only have one kidney, alcohol consumption is extremely dangerous, so they should abstain from both drinking and smoking.

3. Choose high-protein foods—High-protein foods are beneficial to consume for the rest of one’s life.

4. Limit fatty foods in your diet—especially until your medication wears off—you should limit fatty foods in your diet. Foods such as samosas, burgers, pizzas, oily foods, and spicy foods are not permitted.

 

5. Avoid potassium-rich meals if you only have one kidney: Bananas, oranges, and other fruits should be avoided because they can interfere with the kidney operation.

6. Fresh fruits and vegetables- Boost your immune system by eating fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables on a daily basis. These are the most prevalent elements found in your diet plan. Fruits and vegetables such as apples, guava, and papaya are good choices. Consume onion, cabbage, and other vegetables.

7. Drink plenty of water—drink 3 to 4 litres of water every day to flush toxins out of your system.

8. Milk products – Drinking a glass of milk once a day will provide you with strength. Milk products are also good for maintaining the body and bones in good shape.
