Donating blood is a highly noble cause that is carried out on a large scale. Our society has provided us with numerous resources to live a healthy and luxurious life, and citizens have a responsibility to contribute to society.

Many people don’t know what they should do before or after donating blood.

Things to do before donating blood include:

· Nutritional intake – Begin taking nutrients two days before the blood donation to improve your immune system.

· Stay hydrated by drinking at least 12 glasses of water every day.

· Do not take any antibiotics for at least 2-3 days before the donation.

· Rest adequately the night before the donation; don’t overwork yourself. Rest as much as possible to re-energize.

· Don’t drink and smoke at the same time. If you usually drink on weekends or twice a week, don’t drink or smoke for two days before giving blood.

· Consider increasing your consumption of iron-rich foods before donating blood. This can help you store more iron in your body and lower your risk of iron deficiency.

Keep the following points in mind when going to donate blood:

· Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

· Eat a nutritious breakfast – Stay healthy and give healthy blood to others by eating a nutritious breakfast.

· Avoid fatty foods – Before donating blood, don’t eat anything unhealthy for breakfast.

· Relax while donating blood – Don’t be nervous or stressed while giving blood. Always clear your mind of distracting thoughts.

· Interact with others – Have a conversation with people who have come to donate blood. Maintain your motivation and attempt to inspire others.

Following your blood donation, you must be cautious about the following:

· Following your blood donation, you will be given a small snack and something to drink, such as juice or coconut water, to help regulate your blood sugar and fluid levels. Over the next 24 hours, drink an additional 4 cups of water to replace your fluids.

· For a minimum of one day and a maximum of two days, avoid activity or strenuous workouts. For your health, doctors advise not drinking alcohol for the next 24 hours. After donating blood, take the rest of the day to try to clear your mind of negative ideas.
