11th Miss Chandigarh & Mr. Chandigarh Championship held at SD College

The much-awaited 11th Mr Chandigarh and Miss Chandigarh Championship was held at SD College here today amid thunderous cheers from bodybuilding enthusiasts. Ravi Kumar was declared Mr Chandigarh and Rajneet Kaur was declared Miss Chandigarh. In Men’s Sports Physique, Shivam Mahajan was declared the winner, and in Men’s Athletic Physique, Shubham Kumar was adjudged the winner. More than Rs 2 lakhs worth of cash prizes and gifts were distributed to the champions.

Suraj Bhan Nain, Secretary General of North Zone Body Builders Association, was the Chief Judge of the Mr Chandigarh Championship. He said, “Bodybuilding should be adopted to stay fit and fine. The sport needs discipline in taking diets and doing training. Bodybuilding brings a lot of confidence, concentration and positivity in one’s life.”

The event was organised by Chandigarh Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Association (CBPSA) under the aegis of the Indian Body Builders Federation. Akashdeep, Joint Commissioner, GST, Chandigarh was Chief Guest. Mridul Yadav, SP (Central), Chandigarh was the Guest of Honour.

More than 200 bodybuilders from the region competed in three segments – Senior Bodybuilding, Sports Physique and Athletic Physique. They flexed their muscles and showcased their muscular bodies. Many women bodybuilders also exhibited their fitness and proved that they are not behind men in any way in the sport.

It is noteworthy that Upkar, Rahul and Vikram were the judges of Mr Chandigarh event. Miss Chandigarh 2023 also saw many women bodybuilders vying for honours. Niharika and Preeti Garg were judges for the Miss Chandigarh title. Manjit Singh, Chairman of CBPSA, was also present at the programme.

Kalvinder Singh, President of CBPSA, said that there is a need to spread awareness about bodybuilding so that more and more youngsters make it a part of their lives. Pradeep Nain, General Secretary, CBPSA, informed that the athletes selected in this competition will take part in the upcoming Fed Cup, a national event that will be held on April 14-15 in Uttarakhand. The event is to be organized under the banner of the Indian Body Builders Federation, Mumbai.
